Trend Alert: Statement Rings

Flicking through my copy of last week’s Look Magazine, I quickly noticed that statement rings seem to be the big thing at the moment. Worn by many of the celebrities at the Golden Globes and spotted on some across the pond at the National Television Awards, this is one hot trend.

Glee hotty Lea Michele accessorized her pink Golden Globes gown with a stunning Lorraine Schwartz ring:

I managed to find a similar ring by Nicole Fendal with an unusual green granite stone available from My-Wardrobe.com. Lea has managed to mix pastel shades perfectly to create an ultra glam red carpet look.

Another look that caught my eye from the golden globes was Selena Gomez who accessorized her gorgeous Grecian number with an even more gorgeous floral cocktail ring by Arunashi.

Juicey Couture’s Red Flower Cocktail ring available from Selfridges.com, although slightly less sparkly, creates just as much of an impact and doubles up as a weapon whilst also being more accessible to the mere mortal.

My advice for the cocktail ring:

– The bigger the better thus allowing it to replace the need for a bracelet and work in unison with statement earnings.

– Remember the ring is the statement so don’t add too many accessories or else it’ll look too fussy.

– Even if you’re not looking to break the bank, go for something that looks classy.

– Tip: diamanté, semi precious stones and pearls can look more expensive than they are.

Here are a few of my favourites, first the more conscious purchases,  I found these three rings at designer favourite Net-a-Porter.com:

Left: Alexander McQueen Brass Swarovski Crystal Skull and Butterfly ring [£180]

Centre: Mawi Gold Plated Crystal and Faux-Pearl ring [£205]

Right: Isharya Moon Bali 18-Karat Gold Plated Onyx Ring [£185]

Followed by the more unconscious purchases, the ones below are available from Acessorize, however the usual suspects on the high street all have a selection to choose from:

Left: Zebra Print Mini Statement Ring [£10]

Centre Left: Amalfi Crest Glamour Ring [£14]

Centre Right: Monarchy Gem Statement Ring [£14]

Right: Calli Crystal Pearl Ring [£15]

So off you go and get yourself a ring or two to bring your look bang up to date!
