Having discovered this Gastro Pub late in the summer, I had ear marked it as somewhere to re visit. I woke up last Sunday craving a good roast and was quick to check the website from the comfort of my duvet via my phone (you really do have to appreciate the convenience!).
The description on the website confirmed my choice:
The Great British Roast on Sunday
Sunday Roasts: Two courses from £12.95.
Sunday Roasts, Roaring Log Fires, Bloody Marys, Sunday Newspapers, Leather Sofas…
What better way to spend time with family or friends?
So at 4pm, off we went, mum, dad and me. We walked in and were instantly greeted by someone ready to seat us. For a sunday, it was fairly quiet, but then again, strictly speaking we were fairly early! None of us fancied a starter, so mum and dad ordered their Red Wine and I ordered my Vanilla Mojito along with 3 roast lambs.
Our food came and was a very well sized portion, the meat was soft, the roast potatoes were crispy, there was a mass of roast vegetables and the Yorkshire pudding was nice and large! I have nothing more to say than that we were truly satisfied by the roast and topped it off with a toffee apple crumble which was equally good.
The service was good, although I had to wait a little while before I got the waiter’s attention when I accidentally tossed my knife half way across the room, but I guess you’d be a little wary to approach someone with such great knife skills! Furthermore, having paid an average of just £18 per person, we were given even more to rave about!
I shall most definitely be revisiting The Arkley sometime in 2011!
